Read an excerpt from Diana's interview with SHRM (June 2008)
"Supervisors and managers are often on the front lines of performance
and need to develop the skills needed to move collective effort. Many of
the clients being coached are often missing people skills in regard to
coaching their management teams and keeping a solution focused
culture running at top speed."
As an industrial-organizational psychologist, Diana brings a wide variety
of experience with her, including assessment, change management, team
design and development, leadership development, organizational behavior,
and work-life balance strategies.
Clients who have worked with Diana say the experience
has been of great value.
One Global Marketing Director said, “Diana provided me with a
structure on how to transform my team and get everyone aligned
towards one goal. Diana’s feedback is honest and practical; it can be
used over and over, and shows RESULTS. I highly recommend it to any
manager or senior executive with a vested interest in change.”
What exactly is a people strategist?
That would involve a short story. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania as an
orphan and was lucky enough to be raised by my grandmother. I was 12,
Nana was 72, so in order to have a normal teenage life, I needed to pre-sell
her on what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go about two weeks out. It
was here that I learned strategy and results are inextricably linked. You could
say my sales career began at 12.
My core background began with strategic planning, sales training,
management coaching, customer retention, and service strategies.
Throughout the years, I worked as a sales manager and trainer for many of
the big retail corporations. It was a powerful learning experience for me in
relation to a whole universe of organizational development and people skills.
I refer to myself as a people strategist because I'm addicted to
teaching and learning how to get maximum results when interacting
with others in the business world. I’m not a personal therapist in any
regard; I work with entrepreneurs and those who are part of the progressive
work world.”
What is the progressive work world?
Those who are open to the concept of a high performance
environment, which is simply looking at the organization or team from the
inside out. People flourish when engaged with the right patterns, tools, and
environments.
One of my clients recently described the progressive work world this
way:
“It’s a little bit like belonging to a cult. If people only knew what a
difference it makes, there would be a bigger effort in allowing people
to grow and develop to their full potential.”
-Director: Healthcare manufacturer
Most people want to know...
“What’s an industrial-organizational (I-O) psychologist?”
It’s someone who changes or maximizes behavior and business results
in the work environment based on behavioral scientific research.
In my case, I use a combination of practical business experience along with
my academic knowledge of behavioral science to "Raise The Roof" on
conventional wisdom as it applies to gaining amazing results in a way that's
low in difficulty and high in payoff.
